Louisville Baseball’s Sebastian Gongora Named All American

On Tuesday afternoon Louisville Baseball Coach Dan McDonald & Louisville Baseball learned that pitcher Sebastian Gonora was named a Preseason All American.

Per Louisville Release:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville senior left-handed pitcher Sebastian Gongora was recognized as a preseason All-American on Tuesday by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

 

Gongora was voted as a starting pitcher on the second of three preseason All-America teams.

 

The Dayton, Ohio, native transferred into the program after three seasons at Wright State.

 

Gongora was the 2023 Horizon League Pitcher of the Year after going 10-1 with a 3.25 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 88.2 innings pitched. The southpaw led the Horizon League in wins, ERA, innings pitched, strikeouts, fewest hits allowed per nine innings and opposing batting average.

 

His work on the mound helped Wright State to its third consecutive Horizon League championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

 

Louisville opens the 2024 season on Feb. 16 against Indiana State at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.
