To borrow and edit a line from Middays with Maybin co-host Steve Rummage, Coach Jeffrey Jacob Walz is out here straight working these coaches. Coach Walz and his staff just picked up yet another huge commitment from Ja’Leah Williams.

Over the last few seasons, Louisville has been extremely active in the portal, picking up commitments from players such as: Chelsea Hall, Chrislyn Carr, Morgan Jones, Sydney Taylor, Kiki Jefferson, and Emily Engstler.
Last year, Williams was one of the better defensive players in the ACC. At 5’9, she is extremely strong, moves well laterally, and is athletic. She will add the defensive presence Louisville desperately needed on the perimeter last season.
In high school Williams was named the Sun Sentinel Broward County Class 7A-6A Player of the Year in 2019-20.
Freshman Year:
Led the Hurricanes with 65 steals
2022 All-ACC Freshman Team
Sophomore Year:
Started all 35 games
Led the team with 93 assists
Junior Year:
7.1ppg, 4.5rpg & 2.7apg
This year, this off season further proves why Coach Walz is still one of the best overall coaches in the business and his staff is top notch.
Williams adds experience to a talented incoming 2024 class for the Louisville Women’s basketball team. A class that consists of: Mackenly Randolph, Tajianna Avant-Roberts, Anaya Hardy, Isla Juffermans and Izela Arenas, and Coach Walz isn’t done yet.
