Which newcomers are you excited about on the team this year?
For me I will name a few from each side of the ball. (Tyler & Lacy will be omitted for being too obvious)

OFFENSE
Ja’Corey Brooks, WR: (Alabama)
Ja’Corey seems like everything you want from a WR. Great hands, high IQ, good route running & for the love of god Alabama recruited him. He was a 5 star and the #2 WR in the country coming out of High School. He has been looking for somewhere to put all of these together. I believe he has found that in Louisville. Along with Shough, Brooks is on the comeback player of the year watch list after being injured early in the season against LSU.
Izayah Cummings, TE: (?)
I really couldn’t find much in college about this young man, weird. It may be my hate blocker. But this was a young man the prior staff fumbled out of High School. Can do everything you want a Tight End to do. Block, catch, see thefiueld….everything. Very excited to have him join CardNation this season. He was a top 10 prospect in the state & won 6A player of the year.

Jonathan Mendoza, OL (Yale)
Yeah I know what you are saying. You can get hype for an Offensive Lineman??????
Yes, yes i can. Especially when it comes to the 6’9 310 pound behemoth Jonathan Mendoza. Physically he reminds me of one of my favorite teammates ever, Mark Grivna. Talent wise too. He has something that most OL don’t have though, an Ivy League education. Surely that will give him a leg up on the rest of the country and if he plays as well as Griv did then watch out!
Could not find any YouTube Highlights but here is the link to his Hudl.

DEFENSE
Jurriente Davis, LB: (TAMU)
The journeyman from Jackson State, MTSU & TAMU may not excite you off of film alone. But if you have watched this kid at any of those schools you knows he has heart and plays with determination. Looking for him to be a factor this season.
Tahveon Nicholson: (Illinois)
If you asked me which transfer that I am the most excited about it’s easy. Tahveon Pick-olson…i mean Nicholson. The All Big Ten team selection is the veteran presence we need at his spot on the field. Hard-hitter, great with pass break-ups and coverage and very vocal. Cannot wait to see what he can do with the other big names we have in the Defensive backfield.
Thor Griffith: (Harvard)
I don’t think you need to say much more than……THOR!!!!!
He brings down the hammer (I know) on O-Lines every time he steps on the field. Defensive IQ…check. IQ in general…check. Big af….check. The first team Ivy Leaguer has a lot to prove on the big stage of the ACC but there is NO doubt in my mind that he will transition with ease to the bright lights.
Hope you have enjoyed these breakdowns! Make sure you check in tomorrow as we talk about the top games we are excited for this season!
