Pregame Notes:
Good afternoon, Card Nation. The week went as good as it could for coach Brohm and the Cards. The offense had a lot of production while still showing a ton of upside. The defense pitched a shutout. A lot of the newcomers on the defense produced en route to forcing 1 interception, 7 sacks, and 14 TFLs. The special teams took care of business and blocked 2 punts.
The most important stat of last week is 0, as in the amount of injuries that came of out the game. This week, the Cards will take on Jacksonville State University and the fighting Rich Rodriguezs. The Gamecocks are coming off a surprising 27-55 defeat at the hands of Coastal Carolina.

1st Quarter:
Jacksonville State won the toss and elected to defer. So, the Cards took the football and immediately went on a 9-play, 62-yard scoring drive, capped by a 10-yard rushing touchdown by Donald Chaney. The defense continued their strong play and forced a 5-play punt. The offense came out and punted the ball right back to Jacksonville State. A Quincy Riley interception ended any hopes of a scoring drive for the Gamecocks. Louisville capitalized on the short field with a 22-yard run by number 22 Keyjuan Brown. The Cards took a 14-0 lead into the second quarter.
2nd Quarter:
Jacksonville State got on the board first in the quarter, thanks to some missed assignments and poor tackling by the Louisville defense. Louisville’s offense scored on their next 2 drives with short rushes by Turner (1-yard) and Martin (2-yards) respectfully. Jax State was able to cut the Louisville lead in half with a QB-designed run. Brock Travelstead missed a 50+ yard field goal as time expired. The Cards took a 28-14 lead into intermission.

3rd Quarter:
The Louisville defense came up with a sack to force a punt from the Gamecocks on their first possession of the half. UofL converted on a 4th-&-2 on their first possession of the quarter. Tyler Shough then found a wide-open Chris Bell for a 48-yard touchdown reception.
4th Quarter:
Tyler Shough found tight end Mark Rodman in the end zone for a 12-yard pass to give Louisville a 42-14 lead midway through the quarter. Bailey replaced Shough and produced a scoring drive of his own, capped by a 40-yard touchdown run by running back Duke Watson. Louisville defeats Jackson State 49-14.

Post Game Notes:
Louisville improves to 2-0 on the young season. They will head into their bye week with some work to do. Tyler Shough finished with 349 yards and 2 touchdowns. The defense pitched a 2nd half shutout for the 2nd game in a row. In the first half, the QB run game gave the Louisville defense some problems, but in the second half, like all great teams do, Louisville made the necessary adjustments to slow down the QB run game. Louisville will face Georgia Tech, September 21st in Cardinals Stadium. #GoCards
