The Louisville men’s basketball team lost its annual matchup with kentucky 93-85 on Saturday in lexington. The Cards now sit at 6-5 overall on the season. uk improves to 10-1 for the year.

The last thing you want to do is take a moral victory from the Battle of the Bluegrass. This is a game that means a lot to a ton of people and the fact of the matter is that Louisville came up short yet again in a rivalry that has been lopsided for the better part of the past two decades.
All things considered, you can’t help but feel at least a bit encouraged by the Cards’ performance at Rupp Arena on Saturday. A team of seven players hung around for just about the entire game and gave themselves a chance down to the last couple minutes. Chucky Hepburn and Terrence Edwards Jr. led the way, combining for 49 points and nine made threes on the road. Louisville only turned the ball over seven times, but could not find a way to swing the momentum in the second half.
Louisville was shorthanded on Saturday, but they will continue to be shorthanded for the remainder of the season. Luckily, the schedule eases up a bit moving forward and the ACC slate opens up the opportunity for a lot of winnable games in the next couple months. The Cards have competed and kept it close against two top-10 teams in the span of a week. A 6-5 record is not ideal at this point in the season, but if you can get off to a hot start entering the conference season, the potential trajectory of this team could change quickly.
