The Louisville men’s basketball team won 83-70 over North Carolina at home on Wednesday night at the KFC Yum! Center. UNC is now 8-6 on the season and 1-1 in ACC play. The Cards sit at 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Louisville ended the game on a 14-1 run to secure the victory.

Highlights:
Coming off of a disappointing performance against EKU, the Cards bounced back with a statement win over North Carolina to open the new year. Much like Louisville, UNC is a team that had looked good at many points during the season and held losses to nothing, but ranked teams entering Sunday.
This might be the most impressive win for this team so far. The Cards managed to score 83 points on only six three-point makes. The shots were not falling and they still found a way to maintain a lead throughout the second half. It is not a game that this program would have won over the past few years. The ACC schedule will not present a lot of opportunities for good wins which makes this one that much more important.
If this Louisville team can stay healthy, they should accumulate lot of wins in the conference and set itself up to compete for a tournament bid. It has not always been pretty so far this season, but we saw tonight that this squad is capable of challenging for a top-4 spot in the ACC. A couple more tests await in the coming weeks, but this was a great indicator that Pat Kelsey will have the team ready to play against anyone over the next few months.
