Louisville Baseball (38-21) completes the weekend sweep in the Nashville Regional, beating Wright State (40-21) 6-0 to advance to the Super Regional round.
The Cardinals beat ETSU, Vanderbilt, and Wright State in the Nashville Regional to punch their ticket to the Super Regional round, their tenth appearance in program history. They await the winner of the Hattiesburg Regional, with #16 Southern Miss and Miami (FL) squaring off in a winner-take-all game on Monday. A Southern Miss win would see Louisville head to Hattiesburg for the Super Regional, whereas a Miami win would have Louisville hosting.
Louisville got things started early again, jumping to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Eddie King Jr. laced a two-RBI double into left field to supply the runs.
The Cardinals added a run in the fifth and sixth inning apiece, with Matt Klein’s RBI single and Kamau Neighbors’ RBI double, respectively.
Meanwhile, Ethan Eberle had his best performance of the season to date. Eberle pitched a season-high 6.1 shutout innings with 11 strikeouts and two hits allowed. Wyatt Danilowicz took over in the seventh inning with one out and two runners on base, but managed to retire the next two batters to close the inning.
Louisville responded in the top of the eighth with a two-RBI single from Alex Alicea, extending their lead to 6-0.
Louisville amassed 13 hits in the game, with Alex Alicea leading the way on a 3-for-3 night with two RBIs. Lucas Moore (2-for-5), Matt Klein (2-for-4, 2B, RBI, BB), Jake Munroe (2-for-4, 3B), and Eddie King Jr. (2-for-3, two RBIs, 2B) all had multi-hit games as well.
Ethan Eberle’s best game of the season helped charge Louisville’s win, throwing 11 strikeouts and 6.1 shutout innings with just two hits allowed. Wyatt Danilowicz retired all eight batters faced in 2.2 innings pitched, adding four strikeouts and giving Louisville 15 Ks as a team.
