
Welcome back for another edition of This Week In Cardinal Athletics for the week of October 6th – October 12th.
#5 Volleyball (14-2): The Cardinals had a busy weekend at home with Virginia Tech & Virginia coming to town. On Friday evening senior Cara Cresse 1,000th career kill helped the Cardinals defeat the Hokies 3-0. Then, on Sunday the Cardinals defeated Cavaliers 3-1.
Up Next: The Cardinals will continue their home stretch with matches against SMU Friday & Rival Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Read more: This Week In Cardinals Athletics: October 6th-October 12thMen’s Soccer (5-5-2): The Cardinals had a down week this week with tying with undefeated Belmont on Tuesday night before losing to Virginia Tech on Saturday 2-0. The Cardinals just couldn’t get their offense going.
Up Next: Cardinals travel to Wake Forrest on Friday.
Women’s Soccer (11-3-1): The Cardinals were on road this week with traveling to #13 Wake Forrest on Thursday night. Wake Forrest jumped out early on the Cardinals before Liza Suydam’s goal in 82nd minute tied the match. The Cardinals then traveled up to Boston College on Sunday. The Cardinals defeated the Eagles 1-0 to end their 3 game road trip.
Up Next: The Cardinals return to face the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday.
#19 Field Hockey (6-6): The No. 19 ranked University of Louisville field hockey team had an up & down week. On Tuesday, The Cardinals hosted in city rival Bellarmine 6-0. The Knights couldn’t stop Mary Woordelmann’s two goals for the Cardinals. The Cardinals unfortunately couldn’t pick up their first conference win with road trip to North Carolina to face #9 Duke & #3 North Carolina.
