LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Chris Bell and Trevonte Sylvester of the University of Louisville football team were named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
The two players were instrumental in Louisville’s 24-21 win over No. 2 Miami on Friday, the Cardinals’ first win over a No. 2 ranked team on the road in school history.
Read more: Chris Bell and Trevonte Sylvester Named ACC Players of the WeekNamed the league’s Receiver of the Week for the third time, Bell led all receivers with 136 yards on nine receptions, including 35-yard and 36-yard touchdowns receptions. It was Bell’s fifth 100-yard receiving game of his career and the third-straight this season.
The native of Yazoo, Miss., is the first Louisville player with three consecutive 100-yard receiving games since Tutu Atwell had four in a row in 2019.
Sylvester was named the Offensive Lineman of the Week, made his first start at offensive tackle and was the highest graded player on the offensive line. The redshirt-senior played 68 snaps at offensive tackle. Facing one of the premier defensive fronts in the country, Sylvester didn’t allow a sack on 38 drop backs. The Cardinals were able to rush for 119 yards to become only the second team to rush for over 100 yards against the Hurricanes.
The Cardinals return home to face Boston College on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
