Ryan Conwell & Mikel Brown Jr. Named To Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Watch List

ATLANTA – University of Louisville men’s basketball players senior guard Ryan Conwell and freshman guard Mikel Brown Jr. were named to the 2025-26 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year Watch List Presented by AXIA Time, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Monday afternoon.

The pair of Cardinals are two of the ACC’s seven players named to the watch list. Louisville is one of 12 schools with multiple players on the 50-man list.

Conwell averaged 20.5 ppg during the Cards’ two exhibition games, including a 26-point performance against No. 19 Kansas. He shot 36.8% from 3-point range while adding 5.5 rebounds per game.

Brown Jr. averaged 19.0 points per game in the set of exhibition games, tallying a game-high 28 against Bucknell. He went 8 of 11 from the 3-point line against the Bison and added in six assists.

Louisville opens its 112th season on Monday night at 9 p.m. ET against the South Carolina State Bulldogs.
