LOS ANGELES – University of Louisville men’s basketball guard duo senior Ryan Conwell and freshman Mikel Brown Jr., were named to the Los Angeles Athletic Club’s John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List, the club announced Tuesday.
Selected by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list comprises 50 student-athletes who are frontrunners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball: the Wooden Award All-American Team™ and the Wooden Award® Most Outstanding Player.
The two Cardinals are two of six players from the ACC selected to the preseason list.

Conwell is shooting 43.5% from the floor with a 43.8% clip at the arc. The Indianapolis, Ind., native is averaging 4.5 boards per game along with 2.0 assists and 1.75 steals.
Conwell scored a season-high 24 points against the Wildcats on Nov. 11, going 8 of 16 from the floor. He pulled down a season-high eight boards against Jackson State.
Brown is 22 of 44 from the floor for a 50% field goal percentage. He has netted nine long balls and is shooting 88.9% at the free throw line. The Orlando, Fla., native is averaging 6.75 assists per game, which is among the top 25 in the nation. He has totaled 27 assists against just 13 turnovers.
Brown scored a career-high 29 points against No. 9/8 Kentucky in the Cards’ third game of the season. In his second collegiate game, he dished out a career-high nine assists.
