The first home game of the Louisville football season happens to fall on a solemn yet patriotic anniversary…the 25th anniversary of 9/11. In honor of America and her resilient spirit, the Cards will be wearing a special helmet for this Friday’s game against the Villanova Wildcats at L & N Stadium.
The helmet is their white helmet with a red face mask. They have Cards in script writing on the sides and a stripe down the middle of the helmet. However, what makes these special is that the script and the stripe are colored by Old Glory, the American flag.
The rest of the uniform is the standard red jersey with white letters and numerals outlined in black. The shoulders have the big white stripe with alternating smaller red and black stripes. They didn’t release a picture of the pants, but it’s safe to assume they’ll wear white pants with black, red, and white striping. Cleats could be either red or white. Since they’re wearing white gloves, it’s likely an indication their pants will also be white.
