Per University Of Louisville Sports Release:

ATLANTA, Ga. — University of Louisville junior guards Tajianna Roberts and Imari Berry were both named to the Naismith Trophy Women’s Player of the Year Watch List, the Atlanta TipOff Club and Naismith Awards announced Thursday afternoon.

This is not the first award that either player has been named to during the preseason. Both Roberts and Berry were on the Preseason All-ACC team, which was announced earlier in October. Earlier this week, Roberts was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List. This is the second-straight season Roberts has been named to the Naismith Trophy POTY Watch List.

Roberts was the Cardinals leading scorer last season with 11.5 points per game and had a team-best 25 games with 10 points or more. In ACC play, she led the team with 3.5 assists per game and was one of four players to average 10 points or more (10.1). Roberts had multiple assists in 14 of the 18 ACC games last season, including a career-high seven in the road win over Miami. She had four or more assists in 10 of the 18 ACC games a season ago. Following the regular season, Roberts was named First Team All-ACC by the league’s coaches.

Berry is the reigning ACC Sixth Player of the Year after a stellar sophomore campaign. She led the team in scoring in ACC play with 11.4 points per game and was one of four players to average 10 or more points per game last season.

She had a breakout game in the 88-80 overtime win on the road over NC State on Jan. 17 last season. Berry scored a career high 33 points with 25 coming in the second half and overtime as the Cards faced a 13-point deficit. It was the most points scored by a Louisville player last season and the most points scored at Reynolds Coliseum by a visiting player since 2018.

The Cardinals continue to get ready for the season opener on Monday, November 2. The Cards open the season against Bellarmine at the KFC Yum! Center with tip time set for 5 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
