Friday November 1st:
Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving: The Cardinal swimming and diving team had a strong first day of competition against North Carolina in the two day meet at Khoury Pool in Chapel Hill on Friday evening. The two team will complete the two-day format tomorrow afternoon with the Tarheel women leading 100-67 and the U of L men trailing just 83-81.
Field Hockey: Freshman Jennifer Pels’ goal with 4:01 remaining in overtime lifted No. 14 Louisville to a 3-2 win over Providence (8-9, 3-4 BIG EAST) Friday evening at Trager Stadium. With the win, the Cardinals (14-4, 6-1) earn a share of the BIG EAST regular season title for the first time since 2008.
Women’s Volleyball: Randi Ewing had 10 kills and five blocks to lead the University of Louisville to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 win over Temple to stay undefeated in The American at 10-0. Maya McClendon joined Ewing in double digit kills with 10 and senior Emily Juhl had nine kills and two aces. Caitlin Welch had a match high 16 digs. Brooke Mattingly had six kills.
Women’s Tennis: The Cards competed in Memphis this past weekend but no results were sent to me nor are available on the site
Men’s Tennis: The University of Louisville men’s tennis team went 8-1 on the first day of the Louisville Winter Invitational Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Two doubles teams and three singles players will compete in Saturday’s quarterfinal matches.

This past weekend, Trager Stadium hosted the inaugural Sherrill Brakmeier Classic. The tournament, which featured Louisville (23), Northeastern (21), Northwestern (20), and Miami (OH), began play Friday with Louisville matching up against Northeastern. The game was closely played as both teams were tied at half with a score of 2 to 2. However, the cardinals failed to score in the second half losing by a final score of 3-2. The Cardinals received offensive contributions from senior Haley Jurich (2) and all BIG EAST selection Alyssa Voelmle (10) who both scored.

Louisville Field Hockey starts their 2012 season this Friday, August 24th, against 21st ranked Northeastern as part of the Sherrill Brakmeier Classic hosted at Trager Stadium. After a tough loss last season in the Big East semifinals, the Cardinals come into this season with high expectations. The Cardinals were picked to finish third in the 2012 BIG EAST Field Hockey Preseason Coaches’ Poll and are currently ranked 23rd in the nation.
