The following post was done by 2013 UofL QB commit Kyle Bolin, from Lexington Catholic High School. In the fall of 2012, Kyle will be contributing to the Cardinal Sports Zone website with his own “Senior Year” blog during football season. Before that time comes, Kyle will have a few opportunities to blog for the site, because we know football has no real off-season. In Kyle’s first post, he talks about his experience at the Best of the Midwest Combine…
On Monday, February 20, 2012 I attended the Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis, IN. This was the second time I attended this combine, the first time was last year. I had a great showing last year, and shortly after began to pick up offers, including Louisville. This year I came back to the combine for a couple of reasons: 1. To help my little brother, who is a rising freshman QB, and will eventually take over for me at Louisville when I graduate, his name is Clay (@ClayBolin). 2. I wanted to personally meet some of the UofL 2013 targets. I got to personally meet DE target Elijah Daniels and also LB target Tim Kimbrough, who both had great days at the camp. They both will be attending the JR day on Saturday Feb. 25 which is really good news because they are two big time players.
Another reason I felt was a good reason to go to the combine was to get some extra publicity to Louisville. I felt confident enough that I was going to go up there and have a good day, and it helps the program when a QB commit gets publicity. It shows that good players are coming to the University of Louisville and that with some work, we can make a great class. Not gonna lie, I was a little tight during the beginning drills because I didn’t do any testing, so I was standing around a lot of the time. But I quickly forgot about that and turned it up a notch. When 1v1s and 7v7 came around, I was in the zone and felt like I made some really nice passes and good reads. The day was a very good day in my opinion, and I am extremely excited about the 2013 class.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Preview to my “Senior Year” blog and continue to check out CardinalSportsZone.com for the latest UofL news on the regular.
