Steve Rummage: Huge Basketball Recruiting Weekend

Coach Pitino has a huge weekend ahead as he will host 3 elite High School prospects and one transfer. This weekend could definitely alter UL’s recruiting efforts going forward. Lets meet the visitors:

Montrezl Harrell

2012 4* PF 6’7 235lbs

Considering: UL, Florida, Alabama, and Cincinnati

Visit: May 30-31

Harrell decided to de-commit and look around after Va. Tech coach Seth Greenberg was hired. Louisville has an ace in the hole with this one as UL asst. Kevin Keatts recruited Harrell to Hargrave. Let’s be honest, we all know the story here. It would be a huge upset to everyone if UL doesn’t land Harrell. I believe UF had a decent chance as well but the recent addition of South Carolina PF Harris probably didn’t help the cause. Harrell would be very important to UL as he can add depth to the PF and C positions and trust me, this dude goes at the rim hard! And FYI don’t let any UK fan tell you that UK stopped recruiting this kid. UK needs all the depth they can get right now and Harrell would have been huge for them.

Keita Bates-Diop

2014 4* SF/PF 6’7 190lbs

Visit: June 1

Twitter: @KBD_33

Bates-Diop is maybe the most well-rounded player in the class of 2014. He really exploded on the scene this spring and will no doubt be one of the elite prospects and a major target for UL in the 2014 class. Bates-Diop is considering a number of schools but seems very impressed with the UL program and I would expect UL to be a major player for him. New UL asst. Kareem Richardson and his Illinois ties will be huge here.

Malek Harris

2014 SF 6’7 170

Visit June 1

Harris and Bates-Diop are AAU teammates and like KBD this one is all Kareem Richardson. While im not sure how strong UL is on Harris he is an excellent prospect to keep and eye on.

Dorian Finney-Smith

Sf/PF 6’8 192

Considering: UL, Ohio St, Iowa St, Texas

Twitter @DoeDoe_15

Like Harrell, DFS decided to leave Va Tech after Greenbergs firing. DFS was all ACC freshman team while avg. 6 pts 7 reb and starting all but 3 games for Va. Tech. A former 5* prospect DFS had huge game against Duke and Carolina thus proving he could be something special going forward. Landing DFS would really take pressure off of the 2013 class for landing a 3/4 combo guy the likes of Jerrell Martin. Also like Harrell UL asst. Kevin Keatts has a good relationship with DFS seeing that he coached his older brother at Hargrave. Right now Finney-Smith has plans to visit UL and OSU any other visit have not been set up at this time. Heres to there being only one visit and a commitment to UL.
