Field Hockey: Weekend wrap-up!

The Louisville field hockey team was in action this past weekend as they hosted a pair of games against Davidson and Ball State. The Cards started the weekend with a Saturday afternoon game against Davidson. Mallory Mason (7) and Erin Schneidtmiller (21) scored in the first half to give the Cards a 2-1 advantage at half. Becca Maddock (19) added to the Cards lead in the second half. However, Davidson scored a late goal trimming the Cards lead to 3-2. After a lengthy rain delay, the Cards closed out Davidson to win by a final score of 3-2 and improve their record to 2-1 on the season.

The Cards concluded the weekend Monday with a matchup against Ball State. Amber Thomas (17), Becca Maddock (19), Michelle Amon (22) and Erin Schneidtmiller (21) each scored in the first half to give the Cards an impressive 4-0 lead at half. The Cards continued to score in the second half with another goal by Amber Thomas. Erin Conrad (90), senior goalkeeper, collected 3 saves in the Cards 5-0 victory. The game was Conrad’s first shutout of the season as the Cards improved to 3-1.

The Cards next game is September 7th at Indiana. The Cards return to Trager Stadium Friday, September 21st, as they host Georgetown.
