Louisville in the ACC in 2013???

Louisville ACC

By Justin Renck:

USA Today is reporting that the 7 Catholic school basketball members of the Big East will vote to leave the conference. Those schools are Villanova, Marquette, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Providence, Georgetown and DePaul.

If this happens and the Big East dissolves, that likely opens the door for UofL to enter the ACC next season. If UofL jumps right in and takes Maryland’s conference schedule, that would be home games against Boston College, Clemson, and Virginia. The road games would be at Florida State, NC State, and Wake Forest. Then there would likely be a game against Syracuse or Pitt and then whoever our crossover opponent would be from the other division of the ACC.

The only thing that jumped out to me about next year’s Big East schedule was a game at Boise State, and then the possibility of hosting the Big East Championship at home. But I will certainly take this schedule over that in a second.

What I do know is this: it is looking more and more likely now than it did before that the Cards could be in the ACC next year.

Go Cards!
