We have already seen the committment of Richard Benjamin become official, and now the Cards have another one today! Junior College quarterback Brett Nelson (6’4 230 lbs) of Southwestern Community College in California has verbally committed to the Cards for next season.

Steve Jones, of the Courier-Journal, said that Nelson intends to enroll at UofL next month, and understands that Teddy Bridgewater is the clear #1 starter. Nelson told Jones last week that he believes his leadership is perhaps his strongest quality and that maybe he could fill a Will Stein type role next year.

Nelson has been working with George Whitfield Jr., who is the private QB coach for guys such as Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Ben Roethlisberger, and more.

Nelson gives the Cards 2 quarterbacks in the class of 2013, joining Lexington Catholic’s Kyle Bolin.
