Jerry Smith grew up just about 15 minutes from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marquette even offered him a scholarship when he was in the 8th grade! So you know this was a big game for the freshman when he returned home to take on the Golden Eagles.
With the Cards trailing 59-58 and time running out, Edgar Sosa drove down the court and dished to Smith, who knocked down a deep 3 as time expired, giving the Cards the 61-59 win!
“I’m just speechless,” said Smith, a freshman who played in high school at suburban Wauwatosa East. “I never dreamed about this.”
Smith then proceeded to take off his jersey, run down court, and knock over a young lady!
This video is not as clear, but it is Paul Rogers with the call, so you can’t beat that!
