Will the Hoosiers finally play the Cards again in basketball???

Tom Crean

The IU Tailgate Tour made its stop at Huber’s on Wednesday evening. That is their version of our Cardinal Caravan. Tom Crean was there, and was asked by WHAS 11’s Adam Lefkoe about the chances of renewing the rivalry between the Cards and Hoosiers on the court. Here is what Crean had to say…

“Yeah I think so, absolutely. The Jimmy V Classic is something that’s a potential (game) for down the road…But I think right now with anything home and home, a lot of that stuff is on hold as we wait and see what happens with what our league decides to do, and if there’s some other opportunities. The last thing we can do right now is get in too many road game situations where all of the sudden we’d be a home game short because something hadn’t come to reality yet…but the Jimmy V is definitely something that we’re looking forward to in due time with them, and hopefully something else.”

Personally, I think it is something that needs to happen. I think with the traditions of UofL, UK, and IU, all 3 of those teams should be playing each other no matter what. Why not? Would an early season loss really hurt you that much down the road? If that 1 loss were to keep you out of the tournament, you probably were not going to win the whole thing anyway. So you might as well play an early marquee game against a local school with so much basketball tradition. It would be great for the fans also, if that matters at all to the decision makers. So hopefully we see this series renewed soon!
