Women’s Soccer Jumps Into The Top 25!

The University of Louisville women’s soccer team jumped into the Top 25 rankings for the first time this season.  The Cardinals are ranked 24th in the Soccer America Poll and No. 25 in the Top Drawer Soccer Poll.  The Cardinals were last ranked in September of 2012.

Louisville secured the No.2 seed and a first round bye in the American Athletic Conference Tournament. The Cardinals will host the quarterfinal round on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 4:30 p.m. in Cardinal Park. Louisville will play the winner of the opening round matchup played between No. 7 seed Memphis (11-7-0, 4-5-0 American) and No. 10 seed Houston (1-11-3, 0-9-0 American) on Friday, Nov. 1 in Cardinal Park at 7:00 p.m.

The Cardinals (12-4-1, 8-1-0 American) finished second in the regular-season standings behind UCF. Louisville secured their spot following a 5-4 overtime thriller over Cincinnati on Friday. Heading into the Championship, senior midfielder Charlyn Corral is The American’s individual points leader, tied for first in the league with 13 goals and standing alone at the top with 36 points, averaging 2.12 per game.
