The Louisville women’s basketball team beat Memphis on Sunday 88-61. That improved their record to an amazing 20-1 and 8-0 in conference play. And that wasn’t even the main story of the day. Shoni Schimmel made a school record nine 3-pointers on her way to 29 points in only 27 minutes. The old record of 8 belonged to…Shoni Schimmel.
She made 8 of the 3-pointers in the first half, and with the game in hand, sat for the final 8:55 of the game. She made the 9 3-pointers on only 12 attempts, which is even more impressive.
Coach Jeff Walz praised Schimmel’s shot selection.
“What excites me for her is she’s scored this much before in the past, but it’s normally taken here 20, 25 shots,” he said. “She took 16 shots tonight … there weren’t many that were forced. That was the same way at Houston and SMU. She’s starting to let the game come to her.”
Here are the highlights from the game.
