It appears that defensive tackle Jamaine Brooks will no longer be a member of the UofL football team. The senior, listed at 6’4 and 330 pounds, was expected to be a big man in the middle of Todd Grantham’s 3-4 defense. Now it seems like Brooks won’t be apart of the team. He sent this tweet on Monday afternoon.
Just tryna graduate then go from there , student no athlete

Nothing has been confirmed or made official to this point. But there have been rumblings all spring as to if he was still on the team. That tweet kind of takes that talk a step further.
For what it’s worth, and maybe that’s nothing, but Brooks makes it pretty known on social media about how good of friends he is with Chane Behanan and Kevin Ware. Not saying that has anything to do with this situation, I just find it interesting since Behanan and Ware are no longer a part of UofL.
Maybe Brooks just does not want to play football anymore, or just has never gotten fully healthy from last year’s injury. Who knows right now?
That’s going to hurt. He seemed perfect for the NT spot this year…
In no way does this tweet indicate that Brooks is off the team. I think you’re reading into this a little too much.
There have been questions all spring because he isn’t at practice. He was working out in the student center, which isn’t common for football players IN SEASON. As a blog, I pass information along when it’s of interest, which this is. I made sure to say that nothing is official, but this is worth passing along.
