The WNBA Draft was held Monday night in Uncasville, Connecticut and three Louisville Cardinals were among the 36 players drafted. Shoni Schimmel was picked 8th overall by the Atlanta Dream, which means that she will be on the same team as Angel McCoughtry. If there was ever a WNBA team for the city of Louisville to get behind, I think we have found one in Atlanta.
Just when it looked like Shoni may be the only Card to get drafted, the last two picks were all Louisville. At pick #35, the Los Angeles Sparks drafted Antonita Slaughter. Then to finish the draft with pick #36, the Minnesota Lynx picked up Asia Taylor.
Louisville was the only school to have 3 players get drafted on Monday night.
