It took longer than expected, but Nick Burdi was finally drafted in the 2nd round by the Minnesota Twins. The junior flamethrower went 46th overall, which is the highest for any player in UofL baseball history. The previous best was Trystan Magnuson in 2007 when he was picked 56th. In 28 games played so far this season, Burdi has posted an ERA of 0.54 and has 58 strikeouts in 33.1 innings.
This means the state of Minnesota now has Teddy Bridgewater, Gorgui Dieng, Asia Taylor, Richard Pitino, and Nick Burdi. Road trip anyone?
