Rick Pitino just landed a commitment from his guy when 4-star PG/SG Donovan Mitchell committed to Louisville. The 6’3 180 lb guard cut his list down to 5: Louisville, FSU, Providence, Boston College, and Villanova before choosing the Cards. There may not have been a player this summer gain more than Mitchell. Mitchell was an under the radar guy this spring, but it didn’t take long for the likes of Louisville, Kansas, Florida, UCONN, and UNC to pursue the explosive guard. Mitchell may very well be a 5-star player when it is all said and done.

The more the summer went on, the more clear it became that Mitchell was Pitino’s man. Pitino made sure himself or a member of the Louisville staff were at the majority of Mitchell’s games this summer. Mitchell is an EXTREMELY EXPLOSIVE (see videos below) guard who has the ability to play the point or shooting guard position at the next level.

Louisville will now turn it’s attention to landing one more guard for the 2015 class. PJ Dozier, Antonio Blakeney, and Prince Ali are the leading candidates for that spot. Stay tuned to our weekly CSZ Recruiting Notebook every Monday for more info.
