Last night 5 star SG Antonio Blakeney announced his decommitment from Louisville (which shocked nobody). The Cards still have Donovan Mitchell, Deng Adel, and Raymond Spalding in the fold but will look to sign at least one more. Let’s take a look at the candidates to fill that spot.
Most Likely:

PJ Dozier
Position: PG/SG
6’7/ 180 lbs
The Cards were in a very good position to land Dozier before the commitment of Antonio Blakeney. Some believe the Cards may have even been very close to landing a commitment from the 6’7 guard. Dozier had a visit to Louisville set up for October 3rd but will now visit UNC that day. Dozier’s father told Steve Jones of the Courier Journal that the Dozier family had not heard from the Cards since AB commitment but would be open to listening to the Cards again. Many people including 2015 commit Donovan Mitchell have made it known that they would love to see Dozier in a Louisville jersey. The question now is can Pitino make it happen.

Derrick Jones
Position: SG/SF
6’6/ 180 lbs
Jones had planned to see the Louisville campus this month but that visit doesn’t look to happen now. Recently Jones has said he could wait and decide in the Spring which could bode well for the Cards. Jones’s list currently sets at 9 (Arizona, Auburn, Florida, Kansas, UConn, UNC, UNLV, Louisville and Kentucky) and the 6’6 guard recently told Adam Zagoria that UCONN and Auburn were working the hardest. The Cards could have a trump card with Jones though. 2015 commit Donovan Mitchell and Jones are very close friends and that relationship could prove huge if the Cards get Jones to visit the Louisville campus.

Jalen Coleman
Position: PG/SG
6’3/ 160 lbs
Coleman, an Indianapolis native, is a 5 star player according to 247sports and a 4 star on all other services. The Cards hadn’t been heavily involved with Coleman but had made contact. If Louisville were to go this direction you have to think the draw of playing for an elite program that close to home would play a factor. Coleman’s current 247Sports crystal ball favors Notre Dame over Michigan and UNLV by a slight margin. Coleman has already took visits to see the Irish, Illinois, and UNLV so if the Cards want in it will have to be sooner than later. One to keep an eye on.
Long Shots:

Christ Koumadje
Position: Center
7’4/ 220 lbs
Christ Koumadje would be a long shot for sure but could still be an option. The 7’4 Center expressed heavy interest in the Cards earlier this summer to Mike Hughes of 247sports.com and if the Cards come calling they would have a great shot. With 2016 Center Abdul Ado favoring the Cards the way he is I don’t see the Cards going this direction but if Pitino whiffs on the guards remember this name.

Antonio Blakeney
Position: SG
6’4/ 170 lbs
Yes, Antonio Blakeney. I know Blakeney just broke the hearts of CardNation and yes this is a LONG shot but it is possible. By all accounts the decision to decommit had little to do with Blakeney and the 6’4 guard really wanted and still would like to be at Louisville. With all that said don’t look for Blakeney to ever step foot on the Louisville campus but we can’t completely say no just yet.
