The Field Hockey team is on a MONSTER run. We get more shots of the bball hoop gear. Somebody will be back for the Clemson game……A renewal and a ranking and the numbers on Louisville Footballs great Defense this year. So sit down, buckle up and enjoy the ride. 2) That is good news for all of us here in the state as far as I am concerned.
3) Speaking of Louisville football, The Cards had a masterful defensive performance on Friday as they defeated Syracuse 28-6. The Cards recorded 2 safeties in one game for the first time in school history and the defense allowed a total of 255 yards. Holliman got INT #7 on the year and James Sample got one as well. Brandon Radcliff continued to excel on the field as he had a 110 yard 2 TD day. Keith Kelsey led the D with 9 tackles and is the Cards top tackler on the year. The Cards will next go to Death Valley to take on Clemson……too bad there are no other storylines…

6) Today Coach Petrino revealed that from what he has heard from the medical staff, Devante will be ready to go on Saturday. The Cards with Parker will surely make a difference as the Cards have been lacking a deep threat.

21) The new College Football polls came out and Louisville was close but not yet ranked. I am having big issues with the pollsters Arizona jumped from NR to 10 and Clemson is just now jumping back in. I feel like we are about right and if we can pull off the W at Clemson we will jump back in. View full poll here

31) The @ULFieldHockey team continued its dominance by winning both games vs #4 Duke and #14 MEE SHE GUN. Sorry just always wanted to do that. The Cards are on a roll and their season is far from over. They face #13 Syracuse on the road in their lone game this week.
32) University of Louisville senior Sebastian Stiefelmeyer defeated USC’s second-ranked Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-2 in the finals of the 2014 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships Monday afternoon. He becomes the first UofL player to win the ITA’s fall national title. (GoCards.com). The Cards will now head to the Wake Forest Invitational on Friday.
33) Women’s Volleyball split their weekend slate against Virginia and Va Tech. They beat Va Tech 3-2 behind Janelle Jenkins 14 kills as the Cards win their first ACC road game. They turn around and fell to Virginia the next day 3-1. The Cards will face #4 FSU and ND on Friday and Sunday respectively at the YUM!
34) The Men’s Soccer team had a rough week as they dropped both games and will surely drop out of the top 10. They host #12 IU Tuesday and ND on Friday.
35) The Women’s Tennis team recorded a record of 9-3 at the Notre Dame invitational. The ladies are off this week as they gear up for the ITA Regionals.
36) The Women’s Soccer team played to their 2nd straight 2OT Tie. They Tied Duke 0-0. They will next host a pair of ACC teams when they host NCST Thursday and BC on Sunday.
37) Rowing season started Saturday as the Cards held their annual Red and Black Regatta. This was their only home contest of the season. The team is of until November 1st when they travel to Chattanooga for Head of the Hooch.
38) Cross Country (GoCards.com) Juniors Ernest Kibet and Edwin Kibichiy finished in the top five to help the University of Louisville men’s cross country team to a sixth place finish at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday morning at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park. Freshman Kelsie Schwartz finished in 38th place to lead the women to a 13th-place showing.
39) That has been your week in Cardinal Athletics and we are just about at the midpoint of the sports season. Next week we will give grades and include mid season records.

49) The Basketball team received the #7 pre-season ranking from Sporting News (full poll) and the ACC was represented very well.

52) I got back on the football field for the first time in awhile with CSZ’s own Steve Rummage. We played like we didn’t miss a beat. It was awesome. We won the first game of 7 on 7 10-3 and won the last game 10-9 after a near sack by me forced an errant throw that Steve took to the house for the victory after trailing 8-3. Yes I am bragging about flag football, it’s my column and I will relive my glory years if I want to. lol
