Rick Pitino will host two five star visitors for what he says should be “the best atmosphere we’ve had since the Yum Center has been built.” 2016 stars PF/C Thon Maker (accompanied by brother 2017 4 star Matur Maker) and SG Terrence Ferguson (pictured below) will be in the house when the #5 Cards take on the #14 Ohio State Buckeyes.
Maker, who took a visit to UK on Sunday, is widely regarded as the nation’s top player and has been for some time. While in the 2016 class at the moment, Maker has expressed interest in reclassifying to the 2015 class and becoming the odds on favorite to be the #1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Maker was originally from the Sudan before heading to Australia, then to the US..sound familiar? If so that’s because current Louisville Cardinal Mangok Mathiang and future Louisville Cardinal Deng Adel took the same path on their way to Louisville. While UK still seems to have the inside track here, look for Pitino to amp up the recruitment of Thon Maker from this point on.
5 star shooting guard Terrance Ferguson told Steve Jones of the Courier Journal that the Cards only trail Baylor in his recruitment and are firmly in his top 3. Ferguson also made it known that “fan support” will play a big role in the school he chooses. The 6’7 Ferguson, known has one of the top dunkers in all of high school basketball, holds an offer from the Cards and looks to be a top target going forward.
