55 Season 2 Episode 12

55

This week on 55…………

We talk Kyle Bolin…yes Kyle Bolin. Basketball gears up for a big showdown with Ohio State. This week in Cardinal Athletics brings us to the end of another season and find out who made the All ACC teams in football. So without further adieu, get ready for the ride. Without further interruption, here are the things from this week that stood out to me the most. The most ridiculous, interesting and factual things I came across. This is the Mid-Season Finale of 55……….

1st Quarter:

Cardinal Head

Once again the Cardinal flag is flown after another week of Cardinal Football. This week the Cards dispatched uk 44-40 behind the unsung hero Kyle Bolin. When starter Reggie Bonnafon went down to injury the thought that crossed most of our minds was….crap. Not because we didn’t believe in Kyle but because another QB injury occurred. Good thing we have 13 on roster I guess. Kyle stepped in and played like a Bobby Petrino QB throwing for 381 yards and 3 TD’s….all to Sr Devante Parker. Devante tied Ibn Green’s record of 33 career Touchdowns after his 6 catch, 180 yard, 3 TD game. The cats went 1 on 1 with Devante, big mistake. When asked about it: “I was glad they did, They had no chance.” Brandon Radcliff added 68 yards rushing and 2 TD’s solidifying the amazing season he has had. THE go to back in tough situations this season, B Rad has excelled. Eli Rogers had 5 receptions for 61 yards as well. John Wallace had 8 points on the day with 1-1 FG and 5-5 XP.

Let’s talk about the defense too….Keith Kelsey added another double-digit tackle day (10) and James Sample had 7 tackles and one Interception. Deontrez Mount had a sack and GEROD HOLLIMAN set a new ACC record and tied the NCAA record for interceptions in a season with his 14th of the year and also had a sack. Bobby Petrino had his 50th win at UL and got credited for half a sack in the pregame festivities. Kyle did make a few mistakes but nothing that couldn’t be worked on. The Cards are awaiting their bowl fate. CSZ’s Steve Rummage believes they will end up in the Music City Bowl against a SEC opponent. haven’t played a SEC team in a bowl in forever…..

Speaking of the pre-game festivities. I do not fault uk for trying to start fights with us with the intent of getting our star players ejected. It was the only shot they had. They got into our head and intended but when all was said and done our 3rd string QB when Chris Redman on them. Congrats to a great kid who deserved this moment.

Chris Jones and Anton Gill both with 9 points each. Jaylen Johnson scored 7 points and 5 rebounds and Trent Gilbert added 6 off the bench. Levitch did not score. The Cards shot 53% from the field. On Wednesday the Cards beat Cleveland State 45-33. This was coach Pitino’s 700th coaching victory. Montrezl went for 15 points, 3 blocks and 13 rebounds this game and Chris Jones added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
