Mannnnnnn it is good to be back! I wrapped up a nine week assignment at Fanatics today. I planned on restarting 55 next week but got so hype after I got off work and talked to Steve I just couldn’t help it. This week we go over a ton of different things. Katie George=Miss Kentucky? East West Shrine game and Nick Jonus?????? I know, just wait. Without further adieu, here are the most ridiculous, outlandish, interesting or just downright obnoxious things I have heard this week. THIS is 55…..
-Katie George competed in the Miss Kentucky Competition and beat out 16 other young women to take home the crown. When it was all said and done it was game, set, match for the Card….I know…I’m sorry for the pun. Read more here.
-CardFam reunion is coming up this Sunday at noon at the wonderful Cardinal hall of Fame Café. Join us as we grab a bite to eat and talk UL sports or whatever it is that you wanna talk about. -The Cardinals will be represented well in the upcoming East-West Shrine game. 6 Cardinals will suit up on this Saturday January the 17th from Tropicana Field and Saint Petersburg, Florida. Jamon Brown, Jon Miller, Gerald Christian, Dominique Brown, B.J. Dubose and Deiontrez Mount will line up on the East Squad! (Nick Cannon voice) The game will be at 4 p.m. on the NFL Network.
-The new Basketball rankings came out today and the Women shot up to #4 in the land, the highest WBB ranking by an ACC team, and the men fell to 6th after a heartbreaker to UNC. The Women host Virginia Wednesday and NCST on Sunday this week and the Men have VTech on Tuesday and battle the 4th ranked Dukies at home on Saturday at noon.
-Speaking of the Men, I have been seeing a lot of negativity regarding the Basketball team on social media. You do have every right to say what you want about your team. It is your team. However to not understand we basically have a team full of Freshman and Sophmores plus CJ & Trezl is a bit ridiculous. This is a very young team that right now probably isn’t the 6th best team in the country. But as we have all seen Pitino teams do from January on, this team will improve and has a huge upside once these kids get used to College Basketball. Have patience, I promise we will be just fine.
-Next week I will provide you with all of the Spring sports that are about to start-up. That’s gonna be fun.
-The Swimming and Diving Teams (Men’s #4,Women’s #9) demolished #20/#22 FSU this weekend at the NAT. The men won 239.5-111.5 and the women won 208-143. The Cards next battle uk on Saturday the 24th…
-The track and Field teams travel to Lexington this weekend to do battle. If you want to catch the Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams they have matches all day on Saturday and Sunday. Full schedule here.
-Russ got traded and Karl Hess got suspended….win win?
-I found out that a song I had heard on the radio on my way to work for 9 weeks, and liked, was sung by Nick Jonus and now I don’t know what to do or how to feel about myself. So there’s that. I swear I thought it was Ne-Yo. I instantly thought about tying a very large cinderblock to my foot and jumping into the Ohio river but was talked out of it. Perrin would be so disappointed in me.
-Moving forward
-After a few frustrating weeks of “Sports talk radio” in the city, we at CSZ are gonna try to do something to remedy that. Something needs to be done to show some of these “Hosts” that the listener is the reason they are on the air and not for you to treat like crap. Stay Tuned.
-BOFA is sweeping the world….smh
-My bro Troy Jackson’s Birthday was yesterday. He passed in February of 2011. He was my roommate for one semester at UofL but he was a brother and a friend. Prayers up for his family.
-In closing, it is great to be back with my family and friends in Card Nation. I will miss the fab 4 at Fanatics but this is my passion and Christmas is over. I am ready to get back on and do this thing. Until next week…Card Hard.
