The 2014 football season may be over, but the recruiting season never seems to end. With National Signing Day coming up on February 4, the Cards are hosting a lot of big visitors on campus this weekend. Some are already committed to UofL, so the staff will do what they can to solidify those commitments. Some are committed to other schools and some are not yet committed anywhere.
The four recruiting sites used are ESPN, 247 Sports, Rivals, and Scout. As of right now, there will be 18 official visitors. Here is who will be on campus this weekend…
Louisville Commits (9)
Outside Linebacker/Defensive End
Demopolis, Alabama 6’5 215 lbs
3-star prospect on ESPN, 247 Sports, and Rivals. 2-star prospect on Scout.
Defensive End/Tight End
Atlanta, Georgia 6’3 250 lbs
3-star prospect on all four sites.
Irmo, South Carolina 5’9 186 lbs
3-star prospect on all four sites. Named Mr. Football in South Carolina. Rushed for 1,264 yards as a senior as his team won the 4-A State Championship.
Boynton Beach, Florida 6’3 185 lbs
4-star prospect on 247 Sports and Rivals. 3-star on ESPN and Scout. Could be one of the most dynamic playmakers in the class. Although he has been committed for quite some time, it has been no secret that his recruitment is not over yet. The staff will have to hang on to him until signing day.
Powder Springs, Georgia 6’4 310 lbs
3-star on all four sites.
Columbus, Georgia 6’0 195 lbs
3-star on all four sites. His brother, Jawon, will also be with him on an unofficial visit to UofL. Jawon is the top 2016 dual-threat quarterback and is a 5-star prospect. Khane seems pretty solid with his commitment, but if the Cards end up with both brothers, it would be huge. I don’t think Jawon is looking to commit this weekend, but a good visit would be nice.
Liburn, Georgia 6’4 260 lbs
3-star on all four sites. I have never been convinced that he is 100% a Cardinal, just always seems to be looking around. We will see.
Pascagoula, Misissippi 6’3 200 lbs
3-star on ESPN, 247, and Scout. 2-star on Rivals.
Madison, Mississippi 6’1 210 lbs
3-star on ESPN and Scout. 2-star on Rivals.
Recruits Committed to other schools (4)
Mekhi Brown (Alabama)
Columbus, Georgia 6’5 222 lbs
4-star prospect on all four sites. He is committed to Alabama, but is also still keeping is options open with Louisville and Notre Dame. He visited Notre Dame in October, will be in Louisville this weekend, and then visits Alabama next weekend. And oh yeah, he is high school teammates with Khane and Jawon Pass.
Reuben Jones (Nebraska)
Lakeland, Florida 6’4 225 lbs
3-star prospect on all four sites. Committed to Nebraska, but don’t count the Cards out on this one. Also has interest in Michigan and Michigan State.
Kahlil Lewis (West Virginia)
Miramar, Florida 6’0 187 lbs
3-star prospect on all four sites. Committed to West Virginia, but visiting Louisville this weekend and UCF next weekend. I wouldn’t call his recruitment over.
Quandeski Whitlow (South Carolina)
Opelika, Alabama 6’3 225 lbs
3-star prospect on all four sites. Committed to South Carolina, but still has 3 visits left: Louisville this weekend, South Carolina next weekend, and Florida the following weekend. A buddy of mine from Auburn describes him as a “straight speed rusher.”
Recruits not committed anywhere (5)
Miami, Florida 5’11 199 lbs
4-star prospect on ESPN, 247 Sports, and Rivals. 3-star on Scout. Has visited West Virginia and Notre Dame. After visiting Louisville this weekend, he will visit Florida next weekend. Would be a huge pickup for the Cards if they can land him.
Liburn, Georgia 6’3 324 lbs
3-star prospect on ESPN, 247 Sports, and Scout. 2-star on Rivals. Decommitted from Mississippi State in early December. Will visit South Carolina next week and Florida in two weeks.
Kiola Mahoni (JUCO)
San Mateo, California 6’4 305 lbs
2-star prospect on Scout. Not rated on the other sites. He will visit Mississippi State next weekend. Louisville appears to be the leaders for him over Mississippi State and Cincinnati.
Camion Patrick (JUCO)
Knoxville, Tennessee 6’2 215 lbs
Not rated yet by any of the sites. Only offer right now seems to be Indiana.
Concord, North Carolina 6’0 220 lbs
3-star prospect on all four sites. Decommitted from Tennessee in late December. Still has visits planned to Wake Forest and West Virginia.
