I have been given no information on this, so all of this is just my opinion. It has been in my head for a while, but now just seems like the time to let it out. So take it for what it’s worth.
When G.G. Robinson committed to the Cards back in August, he chose Louisville over the Virginia Cavaliers. At the time, he said he wasn’t sure how stable that Mike London’s (Virginia head coach) job was and that impacted his decision. So from the very start, I have never been convinced that Robinson was 100% committed to Louisville.
With National Signing Day about a week away on February 4, Robinson is likely going to take this down to the wire. For the longest time, I have had a hard time believing he was a solid Louisville commit. Most of that just stems from certain tweets he has sent. He would say he is firm to Louisville, and then tweet about another school right after that. I felt the same about Sheldrick Redwine, and he has already decommitted. So is G.G. Robinson next?
I will just say that I will be more surprised if he does end up at Louisville than if he doesn’t. Now it looks like Auburn is going to come in at the last minute and get him. Robinson’s dad played for the Tigers in the ’80s and is the school’s all-time sack leader. Not much you can do when it seems to be the dream school for the kid.
Here are some of the tweets from him, just to give you an example of the back and forth…
Just got off the phone with Coach Grantham! 🔴⚫️ we straightttttttttt
