When the Cincinnati Reds take the field on Monday at Great American Ballpark, a former Louisville Cardinal will be on the roster. Chris Dominguez, who played 3rd base for the Cards from 2006-2009 was told on Wednesday that he had made the opening day roster.
“I have great emotions, obviously. I was happy for my family and myself for sticking through it and the organization for giving me the opportunity,” Dominguez said Thursday morning. “It was a good feeling coming into the office.”
Manager Bryan Price had this to say: “Certainly the offense stood out with the power and the extra-base hits. His defense in the last six weeks has really greatly improved, particularly in the infield. And he brings energy into everything he does, from the drills outside to a pinch-hit at-bat to coming in the last three innings of a Spring Training game.”
He made his Major League debut last season with the San Francisco Giants, but now finds himself on the team closest to Louisville. He was one of the best players for the Louisville Cardinals in 2007 when they made their first appearance in the College World Series.
