This happened yesterday, so it is pretty well-known already, but I figured with the way our basketball recruiting page is now set up to post all of our recruiting posts, it would be a good idea to at least update you on this story.
Five-star point guard Derryck Thornton has committed to Duke and he will reclassify to 2015. He had planned to visit Louisville April 19-21, but plans changed and Coach K visited Thornton on April 20. Thornton originally pushed his visit to Louisville back to sometime in May, but we really didn’t expect that visit to happen.
In my last post about Thornton on April 15, I said this:
All signs now seem to be pointing to Thornton ending up at Duke. And honestly, I can’t say I blame him. Choosing between places like Louisville and Duke is awesome enough. But he has the chance to go play for the National Champions, under Coach K, and walk right into the starting point guard spot if Jones leaves? Yeah, sounds pretty appealing to me. I wouldn’t fault him at all for that.
So we move on. Like I said, most people probably knew this from yesterday, but I figured an update could not hurt.
