Devonte Fields makes ESPN’s ACC all-breakout team

The ACC bloggers for put together a list of players for both the offense and defense that they labeled the “all-breakout team.” This consisted of players they think can have a breakout season in 2015, but did not receive a single vote on the preseason all-conference teams.

Louisville’s Devonte Fields made this list, and here is what David Hale had to say about the former Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year…

LB — Devonte Fields, Louisville

If Fields had been officially on Louisville’s roster as of voting time, he surely would’ve earned some attention in the preseason balloting. The former TCU star steps into Lorenzo Mauldin’s role at outside linebacker, and he’s got a chance to become one of the ACC’s top pass rushers. He’ll be a crucial cog in a new-look Louisville D.

Fields has two seasons of eligibility remaining. If he can have a similar impact as Lorenzo, that will be huge for the defense this season. He is supposed to arrive on campus on August 4, and practice begins August 6.
