Louisville football notebook: Monday morning

Just a few quick notes before I head out the door this morning. You may already know all of these things, but maybe not…

*Football practice begins on Thursday for the University of Louisville. They will have a team meeting on Wednesday and then really begin on Thursday.

*There is supposed to be an announcement (I think today) as to if any practices are open to the public. I haven’t heard anything, but I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe the first two or three are open.

UPDATE – OPEN PRACTICE TIMES ANNOUNCED. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE SCHEDULE.

*Devonte Fields is supposed to arrive to campus tomorrow so he will be here on time for camp.

*Offensive lineman Chandler Jones is also set to arrive on Tuesday. The incoming freshman was a little late to get cleared, but that should become official today and then he can head to campus.

*It doesn’t look like running back James Allen is going to make it this season. Sometimes, you just have those guys that do not qualify and don’t make it to campus, and that appears to be the case with Allen. Obviously, from the running back side of things, the Cards should be just fine this season in that department. Hopefully Allen gets things together and succeeds wherever he ends up.

*QB “commit” Tylin Oden visited Oregon over the weekend. He is labeled as a commit for us simply because it isn’t official that he has decommitted. He very likely isn’t coming here. That is fine because we have Jawon Pass in this class, and good luck to Oden as well wherever he ends up.

*Thinking I may do a “5 questions heading into football practice” post sometime this week. What do you think? Think there may be a QB question on there? I already have five in mind, but they can be adjusted. So if you have any you think should make the list, send them my way. Or it could even go up to 10, we will see.

*A reminder that Bobby Petrino is 10-0 in season openers. Will he make it 11-0? There hasn’t been an opening opponent even close to the level of Auburn. Proof? Here are the 10 games.

*An updated list of the football commits for the 2016 class for UofL so far. This also has their star ratings from all four major recruiting sites, as well as the overall class ranking from those sites. Your one-stop shop!

*Alright, got to head out. Sorry this was all I could get done right now. Want more football? We talked about it for an hour on the radio show this past Saturday on 93.9 The Ville. Check that out right here!

*Go Cards!
