What a good day for former Louisville Cardinals! And on a personal note, two guys that I know, which is pretty cool. Earlier today, Gary Barnidge was named Man of the Year for the Cleveland Browns, making him eligible to win the overall Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which recognizes a player for his excellence on and off the field. Each NFL team chooses one player to represent them. Now we learn that Eric Wood was chosen as the representative from the Buffalo Bills.
Wood is a strong advocate for many of the initiatives the Bills and the NFL support – including PLAY 60, Breast Cancer Awareness, Salute to Service. Each October, he has played a key role in the Bills’ annual Billieve event to promote breast cancer awareness and assist in promotional efforts to support the cause. Eric also helped launch the Offensive Line Holiday Party – dinner and shopping for 30 teenage boys around the holiday season. In 2014 he launched “The Eric Wood Foundation” to provide seriously ill, special needs and physically challenged children throughout the Greater Buffalo area.
The winner will be announced during the 5th Annual NFL Honors awards show, a two-hour primetime special airing nationally on Feb. 6, the night before Super Bowl 50, from 9-11 p.m. ET on CBS.
