Lamar Jackson Is Named Finalist For The Davey O’Brien And Maxwell Awards

Lamar Jackson has been named a finalist for the Maxwell Award and the Davey O’Brien Award. The Maxwell Award is presented to the nation’s best player, and the Davey O’Brien Award goes to the nation’s top quarterback. Lamar is also considered to be the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy. The Heisman is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football  whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

Along with Lamar, the Maxwell finalists include Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers and Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield. The other O’Brien finalists are Baker Mayfield and Clemson’s Deshaun Watson.

The winners of both The Maxwell and O’Brien awards will be announced during “The Home Depot College Football Awards,” Thursday, Dec. 8, on ESPN. Jackson will be in attendance for the awards show that will take place in Atlanta.The Heisman Trophy awards ceremony takes place in Lower Manhattan, New York every year. This year, the award will be announced on December 10, 2016, at 8 PM. The finalists for the trophy will be announced on Monday, December 5, 2016.
