Four-star safety C.J. Avery (Grenada, MS) announced that he will commit to Louisville over Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Avery marks the 24th commitment in the Cardinals’ 2017 recruiting class, and is ranked as high as 78th on the ESPN 300 recruiting rankings. Avery’s commitment also adds to Louisville’s already stout recruiting class, which is ranked as high as 17th on Scout’s recruiting rankings. Louisville’s class is also near the top 25 on multiple recruiting rankings, and near the top 25 on ESPN’s list.

Avery is also the second-ranked commitment for the Cardinals on 24/7, with a .9115 rating (RB Colin Wilson is first with .9118). Avery is currently the 19th ranked safety on 24/7 as well, and leaves the Cardinals with one more scholarship before the 25 threshold. He will also be playing in the Under Armour All-American game on January 1st, alongside fellow U of L recruit Russ Yeast.
