UofL Football just landed a big recruit from the state of FL for the 2019 class. Malcolm Ray is a 6’2 230 lb DT who plays for Miami Carol City High School. He is teammates with 2018 UofL commit Yasir Abdullah.
Ray had offers from Florida International, UAB, South Florida, and Wake Forest. It appears UofL got in really early in his recruitment. We also beat out our old coach Charlie Strong for a south Florida kid.
Though Ray primarily lines up at tackle, he can line up at DE as well. This is what UofL has typically recruited for the defensive line the last few years. Guys who can play inside and outside.

From watching his highlights, Ray appears to have a great motor and never gives up on a play. He shows ability to bull rush and over power interior linemen to make plays. He also has some good speed and has some moves to be able to rush the passer. Ray appears to have the ability to shed blocks well and fill gaps to stop the run. All in all, UofL looks to have landed a burgeoning beast.
