Acting Athletic Director Vince Tyra continues to win fans over.
At today’s Men’s Basketball Tip Off Luncheon, Tyra took off his sports coat during his speech and put on a # 8 Jersey, the number his father wore.
It was a beautiful gesture that showed he is not only an AD, but also a fan.

Charlie Tyra was the University of Louisville’s first All-American. He is still the school’s leading rebounder and ranks 11th on the NCAA’s career rebounding list with 1,617 rebounds.
Tyra was drafted second overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 1957 NBA Draft.
Charlie Tyra was the first Louisville basketball player to have his number retired by the university. His jersey hangs in the rafters at the KFC Yum! Center.
