UofL Basketball player Deng Adel has been named to the Oscar Robinson Trophy preseason watch list. This is a prestigious award given to the nation’s best college basketball player by the USBWA. Adel is one of 32 players on the watch list.
Adel was named a Co-Captain for this year’s iteration of the Cards and his statistical contributions are expected to rise. The 6’7 Junior from Melbourne, Australia averaged 12.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game last year per ESPN.
Adel is a versatile player who can affect the game at both ends of the floor. His primary position will likely be small forward, but he can also play shooting guard. Adel is expected to become a focal point offensively as he can shoot the 3, but also drive and attack the basket.
The Oscar Robinson Trophy is considered to be the oldest college basketball award of its kind; being given out annually since 1959. The first recipient was Oscar Robinson, for whom the award was named in 1998.
