On Wednesday morning the University of Louisville announced Brian Bowen will NOT be eligible to compete for or practice with the institution’s men’s basketball program at any point in the future.
According to the press release, Bowen is eligible to transfer to another collegiate institution if he so chooses. It also states Bowen may choose to remain enrolled at the University of Louisville where he will continue to receive his athletics scholarship.
“Brian has been a responsible young man for the institution since he enrolled,” said UofL Interim Director of Athletics Vince Tyra. “He has endeared himself to his teammates and the men’s basketball staff with a positive attitude during a very difficult period.”
The decision comes two months after the University of Louisville was implicated in an ongoing “pay-for-play” investigation conducted by the FBI.
