The Cards came into their game on Saturday afternoon looking for an early Christmas present. Their wish was granted when they ran away with a 74-56 victory over Grand Canyon. The Cards fought through poor shooting all night long. They ended up shooting only 4-19 (21%) from 3 and 44% overall. However, the Cards greatly improved their rebounding compared to the previous game. Grand Canyon was out rebounded 41-35 and the Cards only gave up 12 offensive rebounds for 7 second chance points. That is still more offensive rebounds than Coach Padgett would like to surrender, but it is moving in the right direction.
Ray Spalding was the stand out performer on Saturday afternoon. Ray finished with 21 points, 16 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 steals. Deng Adel had 14 points, while Quentin Snider had 12 points and 5 assists. Coach Padgett said after the game that his team has not even started preparing for the game against Kentucky, because thy were worried about Grand Canyon. The team will take a few days off and players will go home for the holidays. They will be back to practice before the rivalry game on Friday.
Go Cards! Beat Kentucky!
