Louisville at Notre Dame: Pregame Breakdown

Tonight, the Louisville Cardinals take on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in South Bend at 7pm on ESPN2.

Louisville has a tough task ahead of them. The Cardinals are looking to extend their win streak on the road against a Notre Dame team needing to snap a losing streak. Add in the fact that Matt Farrell is expected to play despite an ankle injury and Louisville will have their hands full. However, the Irish will be with their star player, Bonzie Colson due to breaking a bone in his foot in practice.

Winning in South Bend has been something that even the best Cardinal teams couldn’t do. The 2013 team suffered their last loss of the season up there. It’s always a crazy environment and Notre Dame defends their homecourt well. This team actually lost their last home game against UNC, which puts more pressure on the Irish tonight.

Louisville has been playing its best basketball of the season lately. Notre Dame has fought well against good teams despite the absence of Bonzie Colson, but winning without him has proven to be difficult. This one stays tight throughout, Rex Pfleuger continues to annoy Louisville fans and Matt Farrell does Matt Farrell against Louisville things, but it won’t be enough. Louisville seals the game late behind another big performance from Deng Adel.

Louisville 74 – Notre Dame 70.
