Press release from the University of Louisville athletic department:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four University of Louisville football players have been named to the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Football Team, as announced by the league commissioner John Swofford.

Center Robbie Bell (R-Fr., Hoschton, Ga., Political Science), wide receiver Seth Dawkins (So., Columbus, Ohio, Sports Administration), linebacker Dorian Etheridge (Fr., Charleston, W. Va., Undeclared), and punter Mason King (So., Louisville, Ky., Communication) earned academic accolades – the most for a UofL team since joining the league in 2014.

Bell started all 13 games at the center position on an offense that finished third nationally. Dawkins, in his first year as a starter, caught set career highs with 42 receptions for 642 yards and four touchdowns.

Starting as a true freshman at linebacker, Etheridge led the Cardinals in tackles with 83, while King averaged 43.9 yards per punt.

The ACC has selected an ACC All-Academic Team every year since 1954, and with the addition of the four players, Louisville has had 11 Cardinals earn such honors since entering the league.

To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his undergraduate and/or graduate academic career. All 14 ACC schools were represented on the team.
