Saying Goodbye To Q And Anas

Quentin Snider

Q and Anas,

Your four years at the University of Louisville were probably not what you expected. They were not what we, the fans, expected. You two have weathered the heaviest of storms the city could bear with complete and utter grace – at least in the public eye. I could never say thank you enough times to do it justice.

Whenever things seemed to be at the darkest, the two of you managed to speak up and remind everyone that it will be okay. When Pitino left, there were so many questions about what the future would hold, what it would look like. The two of you stood in front of everyone and calmed everyone’s nerves and had the confidence that we all needed in that moment. You all reminded us all what UofL basketball was all about – family.  So many of the problems that put the spotlight on the program had nothing to do with either of you. Nobody would have blamed you for being angry or upset but you never were. Neither of you played the “why me” card but just played ball instead. The leadership that you have provided over the last few years is untouchable. The calm, cool and collective attitudes that you hold both on and off the court is one of the things I will miss the most.

I know at the end of the day, it’s just basketball, but it always feels like more. It is my escape from the crazy world around us, it’s my connection with some of my favorite people and it is what allows me to be part of the UofL family. For forty minutes, I am in my own little world – a world you both are a part of. So thank you. Thank you for the cheers, the tears and most importantly all of the memories in between. Wherever that next step takes you, know that you have a forever fan in me.

Your friend,

Katie
