JMN_7549Denny Crum held a potato soup luncheon benefiting the Denny Crum Scholarship Fund on March 13th, 2018, at Roosters on Shelbyville road. Supporters enjoyed a free cup of potato soup prepared by the coach himself. Although it was free, a donation to the fund was suggested. There was also an all you can eat Roosters buffet for $15.

Yes, that’s right – Coach can cook. ” I do most of the cooking at my house. My dad always cooked and my mom was a great cook. I enjoy it a lot,” Coach Crum said. “I must say… my soup is really terrific.”

Crum was available for pictures and autographs. Denny’s longtime friend, Joe B. Hall was also in attendance an told stories with Denny as well. He stayed for pictures and shared some insight on March Madness with some fans. Many former players also showed up to support coach, including Tony Williams, Jerry Eaves, Milt Wagner, Tick Rogers, Beau Zach Smith and several others. Former Card Marques Maybin did his daily talk show there alongside co-host & former CSZ’er Steve Rummage.

The Denny Crum Scholarship Foundation, Inc. awards scholarships to students who demonstrate leadership, community service and academic achievement. The fund awarded 100 students $1000 scholarship this year. The goal of the foundation is to raise over $2 million in order to give that amount in perpetuity.
